Code of conduct
AlphaHack is organised by the Software Engineering Club at LAU, the Lebanese American University, and Maaloomatiia. We want everyone at it, students, mentors, judges, sponsors, and volunteers, to have a weekend that is safe, welcoming, and fair. This code says what we expect, what we do not accept, and what happens if it is broken. By taking part you agree to it.
What we expect
- Treat everyone with respect, whatever their background, level, or team.
- Give people room: ask before you photograph, record, or share someone's work or words.
- Compete on your work. Help other teams when you can, and take help in the spirit it is given.
- Follow the instructions of the organisers, the volunteers, and the campus staff, on the site and in the online spaces of the event.
- Look after the campus, the equipment, and the quiet rooms, and leave the spaces you use as you found them.
What we do not accept
- Harassment of any kind: offensive comments about someone's gender, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, body, age, race, ethnicity, religion, or nationality; intimidation, stalking, or following; unwelcome sexual attention; unwanted photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or workshops.
- Discrimination, threats, or violence, in person or online.
- Plagiarism, cheating, or misrepresenting who did the work. The rules page says what counts.
- Alcohol, drugs, smoking, or weapons on the campus, which follows the campus's own rules.
- Tampering with the venue, its network, or other teams' equipment, accounts, or work.
If something happens
Tell an organiser or a volunteer as soon as you can, in person or by email at hello@alphahack.tech. You can ask for someone of a particular gender to take your report. Reports are handled in confidence, and reporting in good faith will never count against you. TODO: the on-site contact (a name, a desk, or a phone number) for the weekend.
What follows
The organisers decide what to do, from a warning to being asked to leave the event immediately, and, where the law or the campus requires it, informing the university or the authorities. Their decision is final.
Where it applies
The whole of AlphaHack: the campus at LAU Byblos from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 November 2026, the online spaces of the event, and anything said or done about the event on social media while it runs.
